AIKIDO UNIFORM & WEAPONS

Aikido members are expected to purchase and maintain their own uniform and training weapons. The dojo does not sell or stock these items so we have provided the following information for our members.

Aikido Uniform

There are hundreds of martial arts uniforms to choose from on the internet. Most
Aikido students wear a Judo dogi, or "gi". We suggest purchasing a Butoku Aikido Uniform from E-bogu.com

Most Judo uniforms are designed for Judo competition which means the jackets are narrow around the waist and short from top to bottom. The Butoku uniforms are cut wide through the waist and long through the jacket, which suits Aikido, and most Americans well. Botuko jackets are also very soft yet durable. The trousers are roomy and have double padding from the ankle to the knee.

Aikido Weapons

Aikido weapons consist of Bokken with Tsuba, Jo and Tanto (Fukuro Shinai for senior members). There are a limited number of weapons at the dojo for beginners and for seminars. Each ongoing member of the dojo should have their own weapons for every day use.
