David Mata Sensei is the Chief Instructor of the Kyoseikan Dojo.  He is currently ranked as a Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) by Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo Japan.

Mata Sensei started his Aikido training as a member of the Yushinkan Dojoi.  As a member of the Yushinkan Dojo, Mata Sensei participated in Aikido Association of America training seminars in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, and New York.

In an effort to prepare for starting and managing his own dojo, Mata Sensei completed one year of training as an Uchideshi (live in student) at the Yushinkan Dojo.  As an Uchideshi, Mata Sensei worked at every level of the dojo.  As the senior ranking Uchideshi, Mata Sensei’s responsibilities ranged from care and maintenance of the dojo, scheduling seminars, and teaching both adult and youth classes.  Mata Sensei also traveled as Otomo (personal assistant) for his instructor for seminars in Poland and England. 

Upon completion of the Uchideshi program, Mata Sensei spent several years as a Kenshusei member of the Yushinkan Dojo before starting his own Aikido Schools.

As a dedicated student of the art Mata Sensei, along with other members of the Kyoseikan Dojo, traveled to Japan and trained Aikido Shihan from various Associations.  While in Japan, Mata Sensei trained at   Hombu Dojo, Kobayashi Dojo, Hatayama Dojo, and Okamoto Dojo.  

Mata Sensei continues to attend seminars around the United States and is planning more international training events in the near future.
