WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE
Martial Arts training has always been the standard for self defense programs.
Unfortunately there is no one Martial Arts program which suits all of the
needs of women and children when it comes to self defense. The RAD and RAD
Kids programs were systematically developed to meet the needs of women's and
children's self defense needs. Mr. Mata is a certified RAD and RAD Kids instructor
who has instructed both programs for the Michigan State Police. The
self defense programs of the Kyoseikan Dojo draw on techniques from RAD and
RAD Kids, Aikido, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in order to offer students a realistic
training experience with proven application and practice. These techniques combined
with Mr. Mata's extensive experience as a law enforcement officer make
this the only program of its kind in West Michigan.
Self defense programs can be scheduled with 10 or more participants at our location or anywhere in West Michigan.
Classes can be developed to meet the needs and interests of your group. Training sessions can focus on one particular aspect of self defense or may include several different concepts. Some groups have participated in courses that have gone on for 3 months and others have requested lecture based classes which are condensed and do not include physical technique.

Mr. Mata is one of only a few instructors in Michigan who is certified to conduct siimulations. A simulation is a structured training scenario where
students put their training to the test in realistic situations with attackers in fully
padded suits. Simulation empowers students by allowing them to see how their
efforts in previous classes work during a realistic attack. Simulations can be very dangerous to the student and the instructor. Be extremely cautious when considering participating in any simulation with an instructor who has not been highly trained and certified by a legitmate Women's Self Defense organization.
